2004 St.
Patrick's Day Parade, Los Angeles
Several CFE members and their rigs were in the 5th
annual Los Angeles St. Patrick's Parade held on Wednesday, March 17, 2004
in downtown Los Angeles. CFE members participating included Don Beckwith,
Mark Bramm, Mike Bramm, Roger Bramm, Mike Britt, Art Camerena, Ron
Dierkens, John Flavin, Kevin Johnson, Rob O'Neil, Joe Ortiz, Doug Stoner,
Hewy and Ruth Wick, John Winkler and Leonard Zlotorowicz. The parade is
presented by the Los Angeles Fire Department, which had a large presence
of apparatus, both new and old, including rigs from the Los Angeles Fire
Department Museum. The oldest motorized fire apparatus in the parade was a
1914 Ford Model-T pumper. The CFE rigs were decorated with balloons,
shamrocks and other things green, and each carried riders representing
various groups. All drivers who brought rigs for the parade were provided
fuel courtesy of LAFD, gift bags, and a free lunch was available after the
parade for all drivers. Thanks to Ron Dierkens for coordinating CFE's
participation in this event and to those who brought their
rigs.
