7:30pm, Old Plaza Firehouse, Los Angeles. The Box-15 Club of Los Angeles is having a presentation by CFE member Dave Boucher, LA County FD retired, on last year's Station Fire. The Box 15 Club is the oldest fire buff organization in Southern California and meets at the Old Plaza Firehouse, 449 No. Los Angeles St.,

Doug Hammer is looking for a venue for the banquet. We have one place in mind and as soon as we get the details hammered out, we will publish the details. If this works out, it will be a rig friendly place so everyone will be encouraged to bring their rigs. There may be a tour involved as well. Please bring something nice for the raffle. May 1 (Saturday) – Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation, Southern Region Burn Relay (L.A. area)
The annual Los Angeles Fire Fighters Burn Relay recognizes all the contribution of the Los Angeles City and Los Angeles County Fire Department on behalf of the clients of the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation. All day event. Stage at Santa Monica Airport at 6:00 AM. Participation by numerous southland Fire Departments and antique apparatus owners. The vehicles will be divided into two groups: inland route and coastal route. It will start with breakfast at Santa Monica Airport, includes snacks at stops along the way and the Grand Finale with food and entertainment. Directions to Santa Monica Staging: From the north, take the I-405 south to the I-10 west and immediately take the Bundy Drive South exit (exit 2B). Take Bundy Drive south to National Blvd, and then follow directions below. Coming from the east, take the I-10 westbound and exit at Bundy Drive (first exit after you pass the I-10 / I-405 interchange). Take the Bundy south exit, proceed south on Bundy to National Blvd, then follow directions below. Coming from the south, take the I-405 north to National Blvd. exit and go left (west). Take National to Bundy Drive and go left (south), then follow directions below. From ALL directions: Once you are at Bundy Drive and National Blvd, proceed south on Bundy and turn right at the next intersection (Airport Avenue). Proceed down Airport Avenue a little less than 1/2 mile (watch out for the speed bumps) until you see a sign directing where to turn right through a gate and back into a parking area (usually the sign is on a barricade in the middle of the street and usually there is someone to direct you in). The staging area is behind a large hanger building and the apparatus stage task-force style along the road below the cliffs. To participate, your vehicle must be currently registered and insured, and proof of both must be presented at sign in, if not sent in before. May 15 (Saturday) – Monrovia Fire Department Centennial Celebration (Monrovia, CA)
The Monrovia Fire Department will be celebrating 100 years of service to the community! Part of the celebration is to include an antique apparatus parade, as well as a display; along with other activities. CFE has been requested to participate which will make the festivities a great success! May 16 (Sunday) – Costa Mesa Safety Expo and Apparatus Display (Costa Mesa, CA)
Located at Station 4 at 2300 Placentia Avenue between Wilson and Adams. 10:00 AM – 2:00 PM, set up time is 9:00 AM. Join the Costa Mesa Public Safety Team and other safety partners for a day of fun in the sun with demonstrations and free activities to get ready for the coolest summer of safety. Free parking at Estancia High School. CFE members have been invited to bring their rigs – we will have the front yard again. June 6 (Sunday) – Orange Empire Railroad Museum Public Safety Expo (Perris, CA)
The Orange Empire Railroad Museum is changing the event associated with the CFE Pump-In this year. They are putting together a whole new event which will be a public safety expo which will be separate from the Spring Rail Festival held in April. They will be inviting agencies such as CALFIRE, USFS, Riverside County Sheriff and other agencies to display their equipment and provide public safety information, along with our usual CFE Pump-In events. There will be an opportunity for all to pump their rigs. We will also have a small hose line for the kids. Directions: From the North (San Bernardino, Riverside), take I-215 south to Perris. In Perris, exit at Route 74 West. Follow Route 74 (4th Street) west for 1 mile. Turn left onto “A” Street. Follow “A” Street south for 1.5 miles. From the West (Los Angeles, Orange County), take I-10 or Route 60 or Route 91 east to I-215 (approximately 50 miles from downtown Los Angeles). Take I-215 south to Perris. In Perris, exit at Route 74 West. Follow Route 74 (4th Street) west for 1 mile. Turn left onto “A” Street. Follow “A” Street south for 1.5 miles. August 14 (Saturday) – Firefighter Appreciation Night at Toyota Speedway at Irwindale (Irwindale, CA)
Toyota Speedway at Irwindale would like to show its appreciation to firefighters and their families throughout Southern California for the job they perform by offering a special discount. Show your badge and you get in free. Kids 12 and under will get in for free! The track is located at 500 Speedway Drive, Irwindale, CA (off of Live Oak Avenue and the 605 freeway between the 10 and 210 freeways). They are also interested in having a fire/emergency vehicles from as many departments as possible, as well as vintage apparatus, so they can be placed on display for the public to view and to participate in parade laps around the track during pre-race ceremonies that evening. CFE has been invited back to this event. Last year, the rigs paraded around the track during pre-race ceremonies and were brought to the infield for a display during the driver autograph session. September 25 (Saturday) – 11th Annual Cruisin’ for a Cure Car and Truck Show (Costa Mesa)
Public show hours are 9 am to 5 pm. RIgs need to arrive by 7 am. Orange County Fairgrounds. Over 3,500 hot rods, classics, trucks, etc. are apart of this one day charity event for finding a cure for prostate cancer. There will be spaces for fire apparatus and there will also be a flag raising ceremony with CFE fire apparatus at the start of the event. Many classic and antique cars and trucks on display.
