On February 1, 2003, thirty-three CFE members and guests gathered for our meeting at the Los Angeles Fire Department Museum which is the famous old Fire Station 27 in Hollywood, located at 1355 N. Cahuenga Ave. At the start of the meeting, a moment of silence was observed in rememberance of the seven Space Shuttle Columbia Astronauts who had tragically died just hours prior to the meeting. Following the business meeting, lunch was served by members of the LAFD Historical Society, and the regular raffle was held. Historical Soceity member Bill Dahlquist (LAFD, retired - fireboat) spoke to the group about the museum and it's collection and future plans. Those present were then invited to tour the facility and the collection of antique apparatus and displays. Old fire station 27 was built in 1930 and made famous by being featured in many films and movies. In the early days, it was the largest fire station west of the Mississippi, with 28 fire fighters on duty and 12 pieces of apparatus. The Crown Firecoach Enthusiasts would like to extend our appreciation to the Los Angeles Fire Department Museum and the Los Angeles Fire Department Historical Soceity for being gracious hosts and allowing CFE the use of their facilities.
