The 4th annual "Crusin' For A Cure" Car and Truck show event was held Saturday, September 27, 2003, at the Orange County Fairgrounds in Costa Mesa, CA, to raise awareness about prostate cancer and raise money for the UCLA Jonsson Cancer Center for prostate cancer research. Over 3,000 classic and antique vehicles turned out to support this fun event, including 15 fire rigs brought by CFE members and the Costa Mesa FD, as well as the CSFA Steamer which was on display. The morning officially began with the raising of the giant 30 ft. x 60 ft. flag on Mike McDonald's Crown tiller truck and then the Crusin' kicked off, led by the fire rigs. CFE member rigs were: CFE's "ORC T46" 1963 Crown/Snorkel, ex-Orange County, CA FD, driven by Doug Hammer; Mike McDonlad's 1956 Caddilac/Meteor Ambulance driven by Mike himself; Mike McDonald's 1976 Crown/Maxim 100 ft. ladder truck, ex-San Diego FD, driven by John Holtz; Mike McDonald's 1956 Ford/Crown hose tender, ex-Vernon FD, driven by Ned Bixby; Mike McDonald's 1953 Reo/Boyertown civil defense rescue truck driven by Kevin Johnson.; The Bramms and their 1970 Seagrave, ex-LAFD; Don Beckwith and his 1985 Chevy/Pierce/Crown mini-pumper, ex- Chino, CA FD; Richard Loff with his 1982 Crown pumper, ex-Santa Ana, CA FD; Mike Britt driving his "9109" 1966 Crown pumper, ex-Orange County, CA FD; Mike Britt's 1970 Crown pumper, ex-Culver City, CA FD, driven by Don Pogue; Darrell Gilbert driving his 1955 Crown pumper, ex-LACo/ex-Consolidated Fire Dist (CA) FD; and Darrell Gilbert also brought the California Fire Museum's 1955 Nash Metropolitan chief's car, 1975 Ford/Pierce/Crown mini-pumper, and 1979 Crown Cab trailer "T-1/3."
