Banning Stagecoach days Parade and 9-11 display
Several CFE members participated with their rigs in the Banning Stagecoach Days parade the morning of 9-11-10. I was privilaged to carry a veteran from each branch of the services in the back of my 1970 Crown on behalf of P.A.S.S. (Pass Area Supporting Solidiers). In the afternoon, CFE members Monte Hammer, Doug Hammer, Brad Hammer, Mike Britt, Hewy and Ruth Wick, and thier friends and family members, set up a large 9-11 memorial display of many American flags on the San Gorgonio bridge overpass of Interstate 10 in Banning. This included raising the Snorkel on CFE's club truck (T46) with a large American flag. All of us stood out in the sun for several hours waving flags at motorists who were passing by on both the Eastbound and Westbound sides. The response was tremendous with cars and trucks honking horns, flashing headlights, and people waving and giving the thumbs up. Some people even pulled over to take photos and local citizens drove by and cheered us on and took photos, some even stopped to talk, some even brought their kids to join us in our patriotic display. Several veterans and off-duty firefighters stopped by and told us how much they appreciated what we were doing. Thanks to Monte Hammer for this great idea and clearing it ahead of time with local law enforcement. - Mike Britt, webmaster
